Sonic Boom is particularly beneficial in a Mecha Phantom Beast deck, as it enhances the offensive capabilities of your Mecha Phantom Beast monsters while providing protection from Spell/Trap effects, allowing for aggressive plays and potential piercing damage. However, its downside of destroying all Machine-Type monsters you control during the End Phase can be quite detrimental, so it might not see widespread play compared to other cards like Mystical Space Typhoon or Twin Twisters, which provide more consistent utility without the severe drawback.
