A deck that focuses on instant and sorcery spells, such as a spell-slinging Izzet deck in Magic: the Gathering, would benefit from including Nivix Guildmage. Its abilities to draw and filter cards, as well as copy spells, can provide valuable card advantage and versatility in gameplay. While there may be more powerful options available, such as Snapcaster Mage or Dualcaster Mage, Nivix Guildmage can still be a solid inclusion in decks looking to maximize their spellcasting potential.

Nivix Guildmage’s second ability can target (and copy) any instant or sorcery spell you control, not just one with targets.

The copy will have the same targets as the spell it’s copying unless you choose new ones. You may change any number of the targets, including all of them or none of them. If, for one of the targets, you can’t choose a new legal target, then it remains unchanged (even if the current target is illegal).
