A deck focused on life gain strategies, such as a lifelink or vampire tribal deck, would benefit from including Sanguine Bond as it creates a powerful life drain effect that can quickly turn the tide of the game. However, a more competitive option may be Exquisite Blood, which has a similar effect but triggers off of opponent's life loss instead of your life gain, creating an infinite combo when paired with Sanguine Bond. This combo is considered powerful and can be a win condition in certain decks, making Sanguine Bond a worthy inclusion in those strategies.

Each creature with lifelink dealing combat damage causes a separate life-gaining event. For example, if two creatures you control with lifelink deal combat damage at the same time, Sanguine Bond’s ability will trigger twice and you may choose a different opponent for each trigger. However, if a single creature you control with lifelink deals combat damage to multiple creatures, players, and/or planeswalkers at the same time (perhaps because it has trample or was blocked by more than one creature), the ability will trigger only once.
