A deck that focuses on card advantage and controlling the board would benefit from including Mercurial Chemister, especially in a blue-red (Izzet) control deck. While Mercurial Chemister offers card draw and removal potential, it may not be as efficient as other cards in competitive play due to its high mana cost and activation requirements. Cards like Snapcaster Mage or Jace, the Mind Sculptor might be better options for similar effects in more competitive decks, but Mercurial Chemister could still see play in more casual or budget decks for its versatility and fun gameplay.
