This card, Night Terrors, would be beneficial in a control deck that aims to disrupt the opponent's strategy by removing key nonland cards from their hand. However, there are more efficient options like Thoughtseize or Inquisition of Kozilek that offer similar effects at the same or lower cost, making them better choices for competitive play. Night Terrors could still see play in casual or budget decks where those options are not available.
