Sailmonger would fit well in a blue control or tempo deck that seeks to manipulate the board state and protect its creatures while applying pressure, as its ability to grant flying can help evade ground blockers and enable evasion for attackers. However, there are arguably better options for this role, such as Stormwing Entity or Winged Words, which provide more immediate value or impact on the board. While Sailmonger can see play in casual formats or specific synergies, its overall effectiveness may be limited compared to more powerful alternatives, making it a less optimal choice in competitive environments.
