This Instant card, Fungal Infection, would be beneficial in a deck focused on controlling the opponent's creatures and generating token creatures for additional board presence. While it provides a minor debuff to a target creature, the creation of a 1/1 green Saproling token adds value by potentially increasing your side of the battlefield. However, there are better cards with similar effects such as Fatal Push or Abrupt Decay that offer more versatile removal options, making Fungal Infection less likely to see play in competitive Magic: the Gathering decks.
