This card, Jace's Scrutiny, would be beneficial in a control deck that aims to disrupt the opponent's creatures while generating card advantage through Investigate. However, there are better options available such as Vapor Snag, which not only reduces power but also returns the creature to its owner's hand, providing more versatility. Jace's Scrutiny could see play in limited formats or casual decks, but for competitive play, there are more efficient alternatives.

If you sacrifice a Clue for another card’s cost or effect, such as that of Angelic Purge or Tamiyo’s Journal, you can’t also pay and sacrifice it to draw a card.
