A graveyard-focused control deck, such as a Golgari or Dimir strategy, would benefit from using Scavenger Grounds to disrupt opponent graveyard strategies. While Scavenger Grounds is a solid option for graveyard hate, more versatile options like Tormod's Crypt or Nihil Spellbomb may be better choices due to their lower cost and instant speed activation. Desert is a land subtype with no special meaning. It doesn’t grant the land an intrinsic mana ability. Other cards may care about which lands are Deserts.
