Kolaghan Forerunners zouden nuttig zijn in een kaartspel dat zich richt op het zwermen van het bord met wezens om zijn kracht te maximaliseren, vooral in agressieve rode kaartspellen die kunnen profiteren van het vertrappende vermogen. Er zijn echter potentieel betere opties zoals Goblin Rabblemaster of Hellrider die consistente schade veroorzaken zonder dat er een bord aanwezig hoeft te zijn, waardoor Kolaghan Forerunners minder snel spel zien in competitieve Magic: the Gathering-decks.
