Introduction

Exosister is a xyz archetype that focuses on punishing the opponent for moving cards from the graveyard. Its design is based on exorcist nuns, with Spellcaster type monsters in its main deck and Warrior type monsters in its extra deck. Besides this, both have the "Light" attribute.

This deck's "Exosisters" have the effect of summoning a xyz "Exosister" monster using only themselves face-up as material, as long as your opponent moves one or more cards from any graveyard. Xyz "Exosisters", in turn, represent the Warrior versions of the nuns in the main deck, and have the effect of not being destroyed in battle by a monster which was special-summoned from the graveyard.

Exosister Martha is the best "Exosister" card, and is also your main starter because it is the only "1 card combo" monster in this archetype, considering it can summon itself from your hand with an Exosister Elis from your deck.

Exosister Elis isn't only a "garnet" for Exosister Martha's effect, and stands out as the best extender in this archetype because of its effect of summoning itself from hand if you control another "Exosister" monster.

As for Exosister Stella and Exosister Sophia, they can work as "normal summons", but are less efficient. Besides this, "Stella" is your main target to resolve Exosister Vadis' effect, whereas "Sophia" is a good way of guaranteeing an extra card in hand.

Apart from the "Exosister" monsters, this deck uses a "Spirit" engine that perfectly matches its strategy, in which Sakitama is an extender and Aratama is the only "1 card combo" capable of playing this deck's full combo.

To guarantee some consistency for this deck, we have Exosister Pax, which, besides being this archetype's "rota", can also work as an extender.

Regarding this archetype's traps, Exosister Returnia stands out as this deck's main interaction, because, besides enabling xyz summons on your opponent's turn, it also deals with cards on your opponent's board or graveyard. As for Exosister Vadis, she is useful to place 2 "Exosister" bodies on board to hopefully activate their effects, xyz-summon something and interact with your opponent.

Pot of Prosperity serves to improve this deck's consistency by finding your starters or extenders. Meanwhile, Called by the Grave improves your resilience against handtrap interactions, besides, of course, being able to interact with your opponent's engine.

Among the handtraps we use, the card that stands out the most is Dimension Shifter, because of its extremely oppressive effect which doesn't affect this deck's playability at all, but is nightmarish for your opponents.

Besides handtraps, this deck can use Gozen Match, a floodgate capable of "reigning in" the game volume from a few main decks in this format.

Extra Deck

All xyz "Exosisters" have the effect of not being capable of being destroyed in battle by a monster that was special-summoned from the graveyard. Besides this, each one of them has an effect that activates when they're summoned (as long as you have used an "Exosister" as material for its summon) and another effect to detach one of its materials:

- Exosister Mikailis has the Quick Effect of banning 1 card from your opponent's board or graveyard, and, besides this, is this archetype's spell/trap searcher;

- Exosister Kaspitell has the effect of preventing both duelists from special-summoning monsters from the graveyard for the rest of the turn, and is also this archetype's monster searcher;

- Exosister Asophiel has the effect of preventing both duelists from activating card effects in the graveyard on that turn, and, besides this, allows you to return 1 monster your opponent controls to the hand;

- Exosister Gibrine has the Quick Effect of countering the effects of 1 monster your opponent controls until the end of that turn, and can increase the ATK of all xyz monsters under your control by 800 points.

Exosisters Magnifica is this deck's boss monsters and counts with three very interesting effects. The first one of them is the simplest, and gives it the ability to attack a second time during each battle phase.

Besides this, "Magnifica" counts with 2 Quick Effects; one of them allows you to ban 1 card your opponent controls, and the other allows you to return 1 xyz monster you have attached to it to your extra deck. Next, you can special-summon this monster from your extra deck using her as material.

Besides this archetype's xyz monsters, this deck uses the two best generic class 4 xyz monsters available in the game. We use Abyss Dweller when we can't access xyz summons in our opponent's turn, and Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir when we need to stall the game and gain time.

To finish this xyz section, this deck counts with the main generic xyz boss monsters. Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder is a good way to clear the board, and Super Starslayer TY-PHON - Sky Crisis is a good "out" for "towers" with more than 3000 ATK points.

Just like in other decks that can easily access Spellcaster monsters, Artemis, the Magistus Moon Maiden is useful in this deck as a way to help you summon S:P Little Knight using one monster from the extra deck as material, so you can activate its first effect and ban 1 card from the board or graveyard proactively.

Exosister's Goal

Exosister is a simple deck, and has a linear combo. Its goal is to build a board with its boss monster, Exosisters Magnifica, and its main trap card, Exosister Returnia.

However, the true dynamic this deck features shows itself during your interactions on your opponent's turn, when you'll be able to access the other "Exosisters" in your extra deck, depending on which one of them is best suited to deal with your opponent!

Standard Combo

I'll leave the main combo, if you open with Aratama, down below:

> First, normal-summon Aratama and activate its effect to add Sakitama from your deck to your hand;

Ad

> Activate Sakitama's effect in your hand to summon it through its effect as a normal-summon;

> Now, use Aratama and Sakitama as material for Exosister Kaspitell's xyz-summon;

> Next, activate Exosister Kaspitell's effect (by detaching a material) to add Exosister Martha from your deck to your hand;

> Activate Exosister Martha's effect to summon her from your hand and summon an Exosister Elis from your deck, and use them as material to summon Exosister Mikailis;

> Now, activate Exosister Mikailis' effect (by detaching a material) to add your Exosister Returnia trap from your deck to your hand;

> To finish, play Exosister Returnia in your spell/trap zone and use the monsters on your board as material to xyz-summon Exosisters Magnifica.

Main Matchups in the Format

The Exosister archetype has short play lines, but it is not at all resilient to handtrap interactions - because of this, besides being a card to "attack" your opponent, Dimension Shifter is a way to defend yourself from handtraps that need to be sent to the graveyard as the cost to activate their effects.

Besides the disadvantage when facing decks that use multiple handtraps, being second to play is another con for this deck, which really depends on its techs.

When playing first, Exosister is strong against decks that depend on the graveyard to execute their play lines due to its "anti-graveyard" mechanic. It is also quite competent against other opponents, considering it has several cards with effects that ban enemy cards, and can deal with up to 4 enemy cards in a single turn.
