10 - Gaia The Fierce Knight/Black Luster Soldier

Gaia The Fierce Knight and Black Luster Soldier are two of the most nostalgic monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, but very few players know that they are connected.

This story begins at the beginning of the multiverse itself, when there was just Chaos, a force formed by two energies: Light and Dark. When these two energies collided, there was a big explosion. This originated infinite dimensions.

This event also originated multiple entities, which, in turn, created stars, worlds, and even life itself. Furthermore, Chaos energy also originated the Soldiers of Chaos. Gaia, the Mid-Knight Sun, representing Light, and Gaia, the Polar Knight, representing Dark, were the first Chaos Soldiers.

As they feared one day their Gods would be corrupted and destroy everything, "Gaia Soldiers" travelled to many dimensions. They wanted to prove their worth, so they went through epic journeys to transcend and become even more powerful. One of them managed to open a Gateway to Chaos, and, after going through it, he became a Black Luster Soldier.

9 - Sky Striker

Sky Striker Ace - Raye is an ordinary girl who has spent the first 13 years of her life unbothered by her country's affairs, which, unbeknownst to her, has been at war against a powerful enemy nation for centuries now. But she isn't just an ordinary girl: she is the only human left in the world.

She is eventually forced to fight and decides to use the Sky Striker system, an incredibly high-tech Mech system that can adapt to a person's body and create an array of different weapons. This system, which only humans can use, was designed to fit her fighting style and make her even more powerful.

While she tries to defeat enemy forces, "Raye" will have to face Sky Striker Ace - Roze, a skillful warrior who uses the same technologies as hers, and was genetically engineered specifically to use the Sky Striker tech.

8 - Eldlich the Golden Lord

Eldlich the Golden Lord's story is directly tied to Alchemy, which, according to the lore, serves three main purposes: transmuting common base metals into gold, creating the Elixir of Life, and creating artificial human life from inanimate materials, that is, creating homunculi.

Loading icon

However, to do all of this, you'll need to submit your raw materials to the Magnum Opus process, which has four stages. After you go through each stage and transform your raw materials multiple times, you'll get the Philosopher's Stone, every Alchemist's dream.

When the Philosopher's Stone was first created, it transformed everything and everyone into pure gold, and originated Eldorado, an old town made entirely of gold. Anyone who entered Eldorado was turned into a golden zombie, including conquerors, pirates, and even the beasts that lived there.

This means that all living beings that entered Eldorado were absorbed by this golden magic and forced to serve the town and its commander, Eldlich the Golden Lord, forever. No one knows for certain if he is one of the Alchemists or a combination of all of them, or even a homunculus created by the Alchemists themselves, but he carries the Philosopher's Stone on his chest.

7 - Unchained

The Unchained story is about the Abominable Unchained Soul, a practitioner who mastered all the arts of the Taoist immortals. Their people eventually started to fear them because of how powerful they were. So, they were chained with mystic shackles and sealed with magic in a torture chamber.

After years imprisoned, their soul was stained with evil, and they managed to partially free themselves using their resentment as fuel. This originated two beings that were very similar to their original form: Unchained Twins - Rakea and Unchained Twins - Aruha.

These two beings then managed to summon their master's old Shikigami, Unchained Soul of Disaster, which, in turn, consumed them, and originated two disturbing forms: Unchained Soul of Rage and Unchained Soul of Anguish. Later on, these beasts fused, and became an even more powerful and terrible being: Unchained Abomination.

The Unchained Abomination, while grieving its master, emitted terrible howls. When it finally stopped, it became Unchained Twins - Sarama, its final form. This form is described as a mythological being and the mother of all wolves, and wants to free its master above all else.

6 - Buster Blader and the Destruction Sword

This story starts when Buster Blader, a skillful Dragon hunter, hears the cries of Buster Whelp of the Destruction Swordsman, just a dragonling at the time. For that exact reason, Buster Blader initially decided to just leave him there, but, right then, a larger, evil Dragon attacked them, and destroyed everything around them. Buster Blader's instincts told him to "save" the small dragonling and kill the corrupted, evil Dragon. In its last moments, this beast, in turn, asked him to take care of Buster Whelp of the Destruction Swordsman, which was, in fact, its child.

So, even though this went against everything he knew about Dragons, Buster Blader decided to take care of that dragonling, and believed it would become a great ally in the future. He taught Buster Whelp of the Destruction Swordsman all about the Destruction Sword, and taught it how to use old magic, which made it incredibly powerful as well as a loyal friend.

However, one day, tragedy struck! The sky went dark and dark magic corrupted the dragonling's own body and soul, effectively turning it into Buster Dragon. Feeling guilty, Buster Blader decided stopping his old friend was his responsibility, and, as soon as he could, he killed it.

In its last moments, fallen, but purified, the Dragon thanked him and asked him to touch its face. Right then, a golden light shone, and their souls and powers were connected - fusion magic! A new warrior was born: Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman.

5 - Visas Starfrost

Visas Starfrost is one of the main Yu-Gi-Oh! protagonists, and is tied to several archetypes in this universe. In his story, he travelled through different worlds, went through inner conflicts, and always looked for harmony. "Visas" is a lonely warrior who travels through different worlds in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG universe while carrying a powerful sword and a moral burden: he has to defeat his evil counterparts, which originated from his stolen memories and emotions.

While travelling, he reached a world inhabited by creatures called Scareclaw, which represent fears and primitive instincts. There, he fought Scareclaw Reichheart, and, when he defeated it, he recovered parts of his emotions and memories.

In another world, "Visas" met the Tearlaments - beings that live underwater and seem to be balanced, but hide dark secrets. This world was full of laments, and was ruled by Tearlaments Reinoheart, who wanted immortality at all costs.

During their battle, "Reinoheart", who carried Visas' sorrow, absorbed the power of the Tearlaments, and, besides controlling them, turned into Tearlaments Kaleido-Heart. In the end, "Visas" used the power of fear to beat sorrow, but, before he could kill Kaleido-Heart, he was interrupted by another enemy.

It was Kashtira Unicorn, who embarked on a mission to capture "Reinoheart", and, after getting what he wanted, escaped in his spaceship back to the Scareclaw world. There, Visas met the Kashtira leader, Kashtira Riseheart, who represents his anger. This leader used his powers to absorb "Reinoheart", and turned into Kashtira Arise-Heart. Visas Starfrost and Kashtira Arise-Heart battled fiercely, but the combat only ended after a burst of energy - when "Visas" finally absorbed "Arise-Heart".

However, "Visas" body and mind became unstable because of the amount of energy he absorbed, and the result was the birth of a monster called Vicious Astraloud. This monster, consumed by negative emotions, decided to destroy the entire world. Before he could do it, though, a mysterious strength from the depths of his consciousness suppressed these malicious intentions.

This was Mannadium Riumheart, which represents "Visas" hope. He occupied a mind palace in Visas' psyche, a sort of paradise. However, Vicious Astraloud managed to invade this space and tried to destroy Visas' happy memories.

As a last resource, Visas' consciousness transferred all his energies to him, who, in turn, transformed into Mannadium Prime-Heart. He then battled against Vicious Astraloud, and, at the same time, tried to take control of his emotions again.

However, as Vicious Astraloud calmed down, Mannadium Riumheart began disappearing. Because of their overwhelming emotions, their world lost its colors and broke, which, in turn, forced Visas to make a decision. Encouraged by Mannadium Riumheart, Visas was determined to destroy his "weaker self" and create an even more powerful version of himself.

This is how Visas Amritara was born. After bursting from Visas' consciousness into the real world, he started reconstructing it. Furthermore, he then created a new world, a water-based planet called Amritara which is a mixture of the three other worlds he visited in this journey.

This is also when the consciousness that split Visas' emotions appeared: it was Veda Kalanta, who then immediately attacked Amritara. Their battle was long and difficult, but Veda managed to hit Visas with one of his secret techniques. This technique made Visas feel nostalgic, as if he had been struck this way multiple times before.

When he finally woke up, Visas was once again at the beginning of his journey, on the Scareclaw planet. He once again defeats Scareclaw Reichheart, but, instead of absorbing him, he proposes they join forces.

4- Fallen of Albaz

Fallen of Albaz is also one of the main Yu-Gi-Oh protagonists, and his complex story is full of battles and betrayals.

"Albaz" is a young man who had a special ability: he could turn into Dragons and absorb their powers. However, his past was a mystery even to him. His story started when he dropped from the sky in a warring world, more specifically in a region marked by the conflict between the Dogmatika (a religious cult) and the Tri-Brigade (a group of Warrior Beasts).

Fallen of Albaz was then considered an enemy by the Dogmatika, except for Dogmatika Ecclesia, the Virtuous, who realized he wasn't a threat and helped him escape. He also joined Albaz in his journey to discover his past and the true intentions of the Dogmatika.

3 - True Draco

True Draco is a story about Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer, a warrior who couldn't remember his past or his real name. All he knew was that he was called "Dracoslayer", and that he needed to stop an evil called "Dracoverlord".

Loading icon

His first big battle was against Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord, and his army of Amorphages, who represent the seven deadly sins and brought terror to multiple worlds.

After he beat them, he freed an even bigger evil - the True Kings. They considered themselves the true owners of the multiverse. After he won this new battle and managed to fend off these beasts, "Dracoslayer" started to look for the real threat; that is, their leader, the True King of All Calamities.

In this final battle, "Dracoslayer" needed the support of all the tribes he recently helped, and they all sent a representative to help him save the multiverse. After he was cured by Mariamne, the True Dracophoenix, "Dracoslayer" recovered his memories and his true form, Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King. Besides Metaltron XII, the True Dracombatant, he fought against the True King of All Calamities. The final battle ended in an explosion that was felt throughout the entire multiverse. We still don't know who won it, and if it truly ended.

2 - Aleister the Invoker

Aleister the Invoker is inspired by Aleister Crowley, a notorious English occultist, ceremonial magician and writer, known for his mystical practices and the creation of the religion of Thelema.

In Yu-Gi-Oh!, Aleister the Invoker is tied to several other Spellcaster archetypes, like Magistus, Endymion, Spellbook, Witchcrafter, and Invoked. Invoked, in particular, is based around Aleister the Invoker and his book, the Book of the Law. This book allows him to "summon" powerful elemental beasts, which are represented in the game by fusion monsters with each attribute.

His story is rather complex and involves themes of power, ambition, and a search for forbidden knowledge. In his journey, "Aleister" became so powerful that he went mad, and eventually turned into Aleister the Invoker of Madness. To suppress these powers, he created a magic tower and sealed his magic in a special chamber. He also wrote several books about magic, and later on Spellbook spellcasters used these books as a source of knowledge.

1 - Duel Terminal

Duel Terminal is most likely the biggest Yu-Gi-Oh story, as it is tied to more archetypes than any other story. It is centered around a long battle between monster factions in a magical world. It involves even interdimensional travel and apocalyptic catastrophes.

Initially, this particular world was inhabited by several civilizations. Each one had their own goals and types of magic. As a result, they often clashed with one another. For instance, Flamvell (Fire) and Ice Barrier (Ice) represented opposite forces and constantly battled each other. The Fabled, fiend-like creatures, manipulated these conflicts to incite chaos. The Naturia, guardians of nature, sought balance in all things. The Mist Valley, in turn, were the most neutral people of all.

As time went on, beings from another dimension invaded this world - the Worms, monstrous parasites that came from the Duel Terminal world. To fight them off, all factions needed to work together, but their alliance was fragile and full of suspicions. To defeat the Worms, they created machines called the Allies of Justice, which were designed to neutralize them. However, they lost control of them, and these machines started to attack everyone they considered a threat, including their previous allies - the factions.

Some time later, the Dragunity came along, a powerful faction of warriors who wore Dragon armor. They were allied to peaceful factions, like the Mist Valley and the Naturia. Despite this, the world was still in chaos, as there were still many active disputes, and the Fabled took advantage of this to manipulate their targets even more. This corrupted the factions and divided the world even more.

During these conflicts, the Ice Barrier people freed the powerful Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier, which brought destruction upon everyone. It froze most of the world and marked the beginning of a new era of catastrophes.

After the world was mostly devastated, the Steelswarm threat came along. These demons freed themselves from an old seal that imprisoned them deep in the abyss. With their corruption, they originated the Verz/Evilswarm, which, in turn, started to corrupt other monsters.

In the middle of all of this chaos, a supreme entity, Sophia, Goddess of Rebirth, was awakened. She wanted to destroy all existence so she could "reset" the world. And, once again, all factions needed to work together to prevent this from happening.

The Constellar, a group of celestial warriors, descended from the skies to face the Verz/Evilswarm, and were the last hope to reinstate balance. However, the Lswarm, corrupted by the Steelswarm, kept on spreading chaos, and brought the entire world to a final battle between Light and Dark.

After all of this, the Shaddoll threat came along. They were led by El Shaddoll Construct, a being created from the dead bodies of the fallen factions and the dark powers of the dark world. She started to corrupt and assimilate the living and the undead, and turned them into dark versions of themselves. Her goal was to absorb all the world's spiritual power, and use the creatures of each faction as her own personal tools.

To face this threat, the Nekroz stepped forward. They were spiritual warriors who used the energy of mirrors and rituals to fight evil. Despite all odds, the Nekroz managed to resist the Shaddoll threat by building a spiritual barrier that kept the darkness from expanding even more.

While this battle consumed the entire world, a new evil came from space: the Infernoid. These new enemies were old demons that were sealed in another dimension, but managed to free themselves in all of this chaos. Their goal was to destroy creation itself, and devour everything in their path. The Infernoid didn't only absorb life, but also spiritual matter and energy. So, they became a threat both to the Nekroz and the Shaddoll.

Finally, one last hopeful effort was made: the Zefra, a faction formed by the survivors of multiple tribes. They combined forces to save the world. This faction included the Yang Zing, the Nekroz, the Shaddoll, the Ritual Beasts, and the Constellar, who overcame their differences to fight a bigger evil.

Loading icon

The final battle was marked by great losses, but the Zefra managed to defeat El Shaddoll Construct and seal the Infernoid. This temporarily restored balance in the Duel Terminal world. Despite all of this, the future of the surviving factions was uncertain. After all, the world had been irreparably devastated.
